Winter, Layering & The Boots I Reach For
10-17-25 As the weather turns chilly, I find myself returning - once again - to Wintering by Katherine May. I’ve listened to this book every year for the past five winters. Something about it calls my attention back to what winter truly asks of us: slumbering, layering, pausing, waiting. It’s a season that appears still, yet is quietly moving in its own way.
Winter reminds me that comfort matters. Layers matter. The pieces we trust matter.
When I think of layering and comfort in this early winter season, I go straight to my favorite boots: our Bryn - a lace-up with a side zipper and a soft, supportive lugg sole. The vertical woven plug and braided detail feel like a small nod to the expert craftsmanship that goes into every pair. It’s the boot I zip on and go. It works with whatever I’m wearing, without fuss. It’s reliable.
Winter, to me, requires no frills. It’s reaching for the sweater you always trust, the one that holds its shape and warmth year after year. It’s choosing quality over everything else. And it’s choosing footwear that feels almost custom—soft, comfortable, made to move with you.
That’s my winter rhythm. What’s yours? What are your go-to pieces when the days turn cold?
